Our music history course will involve listening, discussing and analyzing select music masterpieces, watching and discussing videos of master interpretations. Reading and listening homework assignments will be a regular occurrence. Students will have to learn about leading composers of classical and contemporary music, and understand the different styles of music making. The course also covers popular music history, providing a rather unique glimpse into the origins, styles, trends and shapes of music we hear every day, ever since radio, television, and Internet changed our lives. From early jazz, Ink Spots, through Elvis, Beatles and on to Beyonce (and beyond), popular music has permeated our lives through all types of media. Little understood, and sometimes little known facts, blunders, discoveries that helped shape the face of music today will be presented to our students.
